I wish! As is the case with most of us who are not Sufi mystics, my poems come from the interstices of a life filled with commerce, everyday obligations, family duties, casual pleasures, and the sheer banal basics of breathing, eating, sleeping. It is impossible, I think, to be a poet in the way one would be a banker or a pilot. Poetry is not a profession, but an expression. The occasions of life evoke the response of poetry by their richness or darkness, their stillness or joy.
